Komponistenportraits
Die Universal Edition begann ihre Reprint-Ausgaben mit Werken des bedeutenden Komponisten Johann Nepomuk Hummel. Viele seiner Kompositionen sind nur mehr in ganz frühen Drucken erhältlich und zählen somit zu den musikalischen Raritäten.
Schon allein die Bekanntschaft mit der großen Fis-Moll-Sonate op. 81 stellt für den Pianisten ein bedeutsames Erlebnis dar. Behauptet doch Robert Schumann, dass sie allein genügen würde, Hummel unsterblich zu machen. Er nennt sie ein wahrhaft großes episches Titanenwerk und das Gemälde eines ungeheuren, ringenden, resignierten Geistes.
