Marsch – March – Marche
RUNDEL Traditionsmärsche neu arrangiert
Rudolf Novácek (Novacek) studied violin with Josef Hellmesberger at the Vienna Conservatory and later in Budapest. In 1879 he joined the military band of the 11th Infantry Regiment in Pilsen, under the direction of Karl Komzák, and he succeeded him as bandmaster in 1882. In 1885 he took over the Infantry Regiment No. 28 in Prague. This band was under the command of Colonel Ludwig Castaldo. In his honor, Rudolf Novácek composed his famous "Castaldo March" in 1890, which is still one of the most popular march compositions for wind bands today. Later, Novácek worked as a music teacher in Timisoara (Banat / Romania) for several years.
