Das Requiem von Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) gehört als ein Hauptwerk der Musikgeschichte natürlich zum etablierten „Standardrepertoire“ von Kirchenkonzerten – unvollendet geblieben, ist es von einer schillernden Fassungsgeschichte und Vervollständigungsversuchen umweht.
Grundlage ist die Fassung des Mozart-Schülers Franz Xaver Süßmayr (1766-1803). Einige in den 1960er Jahren entdeckte Skizzen von Mozarts Hand nimmt aktuell nun Birger Petersen, Professor für Musiktheorie an der Hochschule für Musik Mainz, als Grundlage, um das Lacrimosa des Requiems um eine neue Amen-Fuge zu ergänzen, so dass eine bisher nicht existente Fassung entsteht.
Dem Gutenberg Kammerchor und dem Neumeyer Consort unter ihrem Leiter Universitätsprofessor Felix Koch gewidmet.
