Anyone who likes refined rhythms, razor-sharp articulation, lively melismata, and high soprano notes will certainly be in for a treat with the sacred choral composition Cantate Domino by Pascal Martiné. The Latin choral work for four-part a cappella women's choir is almost bubbling over with syncopes and tongue-twisting syllables on the one hand, and melismatic melody lines on the other hand. This a cappella setting for women's choir (SSAA) with verses 1-4 from Psalm 96 lives on the play of musical contrasts, with solemn unison passages that are reminiscent of Gregorian chant alternating with four-part melismatic sections and thus adequately following the work's textual content. A really 'groovy' piece of music!
