Den "Baby Elephant Walk" schrieb der Filmmusikkomponist Henry Mancini zum Film "Hatari!" aus dem Jahr 1961. Durch die geschickte Kombination von Blech- und Holzbläsern gelang es ihm, den Gang eines kleinen Elefanten musikalisch sehr plastisch darzustellen. Mia Schmidt setzte dieses Konzept in ihrer Bearbeitung des jazzigen Evergreens für Blockflötenquartett um.
