Cupid and Death

Today’s revival of interest in 17th-century English music-theatre owes much to pioneering early Musica Britannica volumes which made available for the first time authoritative editions of works such as James Shirley’s Cupid and Death, an important example of the Renaissance masque tradition surviving from this period.
