In 1929 Kodály set to music the hymn "Pange lingua" by Thomas of Aquin. It premiered in the same year in Budapest (with the choirs of the Attila-Street-School and the Szilágyi-Erzsébet-School and Ernö Riegler as organist, conducted by Adrienne B. Sztojanovits).
