Die Melodie des Deutschlandliedes (Die deutsche Nationalhymne) wurde von Joseph Haydn ursprünglich als österreichische Kaiserhymne "Gott erhalte Franz den Kaiser" komponiert und zum ersten Mal 1797 aufgeführt. ( Der Text für das Deutschlandlied wurde von August Heinrich Hoffmann von Fallersleben 1841 auf Helgoland geschrieben). 1922 wurde es die Nationalhymne für Deutschland . Im März 1952 erklärte Bundespräsident Theodor Heuss die dritte Strophe des Deutschlandliedes zur Nationalhymne der Bundesrepublik Deutschland.
