Terezín Music Memorial Project
Robert Dauber's magnificent Serenade was written in the ghetto of Terezín in 1942 and is now - more than 60 years after his premature death from typhoid in Dachau in March 1945 - published for the first time as a printed version as part of the Terezín Music Memorial Project.Dauber's preference for the light-minded tone goes back to his father Adolf (Dol) Dauber who was a well-known composer, arranger and director of the Dol Dauber Salonorchester in the 1920s. Far from being shallow drawing-room music, Dauber's Serenade with its demanding solo part is a wonderful encore piece or a stimulating intermezzo for concert evenings and high-quality private music-making.
