for Flute and Bassoon
Sonatina by Eugène Bozza is a piece for flute and bassoon dedicated to Jacques Ibert. Strongly lyrical, this piece is very interesting and quite challenging to play. It explores the full high and low of the instruments, andrequires some good breathing ability and strong agility. It is divided in three main parts are I. Allegro, II. Andantino and III. Vif. While the first section is very cheerful and energetic, the second part is slower and morereflective. The piece ends with a third part that is more direct and decisive. Eugène Bozza won different prizes at the Conservatoire de Paris such as the First Prizes for the violin, conducting and composition, as well as theGrand Prix de Rome. He composed several operas, chamber works and ballets among others.
