"Bachs Kantate, ""Herr Gott, dich loben alle wir"", komponiert zum 29. September 1724, gehört zum Jahrgang der Choralkantaten, die, wie vielleicht auch der jeweilige Prediger, die Gedanken der Lesungen am Beispiel eines Kirchenliedes auslegen, hier des zwölfstrophigen Liedes von Paul Eber (1554), dessen Binnenstrophen 2-10 zu je zwei Rezitativen und Arien nachgedichtet wurden, während Strophe 1 als Eingangssatz und die Strophen 11-12 als Schlusschoral im ursprünglichen Wortlaut erklingen."
