The Who absolutely embodied the image of the rock star. Smashing instruments, Pete Townsend’s legendary windmill strum, and Roger Daltrey’s seductive singing truly defined the style and image of rock. Keith Moon is considered one of the most important drummers of all time and John Entwistle’s bass technique is still deemed a top role model for bass players today. It was Entwistle who first brought the bass to the fore with his virtuosic solos.
The Who were also musical pioneers. Their concept album “Tommy” influenced many artists and bands of the time like Jethro Tull and David Bowie, but also younger bands like Oasis, Blur and Iron Maiden.
Over the decades, the The Who’s hits have been covered by bands far and wide, a few examples include the Scorpions, Tina Turner" name =", Limp Bizkit and the Sex Pistols.
