Jörn Michael Borner started as autodidact, got his first guitar-lesson with 19 years, studied guitar (Alfred Eickholt) and Composition (Ingo Schmitt) at the college of music Cologne, department Wuppertal. Following there were Master courses with John Williams, Alexandre Lagoya, Eliot Fisk. He is currently teacher and director of the School of Music in Radevormwald, guest lecturer at the Academy Remscheid and the college of music Cologne, department Wuppertal. He plays concerts as soloist or as a member of different jazz ensembles and published several records and scores. The guitarist and composer is a border crosser between the guitar worlds. Jazz or „jazz-like“music belongs likewise to his style such as classical or „classical-like “music. During his study as a classical guitarist he had a look at the development of the modern jazz guitar. Already as a young person he records many of his own pieces and wrote down his musical ideas. Since this time he is playing concerts in different ensembles and as soloist. The publications of his pieces for guitar and electric guitar are estimated by many guitarists.
