First Print, Urtext Edition prepared by Martin Wulfhorst with a practical solo part preparation by Yury Revich. A manuscript found in Doblinger’s archives proved a sensation: a cadenza to Beethoven’s violin concerto could be proven to be an early version of a further, also hitherto unpublished, cadenza by Henri Vieuxtemps.
The special feature of both versions is that the solo part is partly accompanied by a string quartet (also playable by multiple players per part) and by the timpani so characteristic for this movement. The edition contains the scores and the complete part materials of both versions. The solo parts include both the urtext and a practical preparation.
