Clatinetango was written for clarinetist Irvin Veniš and the Epoque Quartet. It combines tango with contemporary classical music and jazz. The clarinet line often intertwines with the first violin and the other strings follow with a rhythmic accompaniment. The runs and rhythms in the middle section smack more of jazz-rock than classical music. The unique main melody with which the piece begins also appears in the pianissimo at the end as a memento.
