Ignacio Cervantes (Havana, Cuba, 1847-1905) is widely regarded as the most important 19th century musician in Cuba. After his piano and composition studies in Paris, where he moved in the highest circles, being admired by Liszt, Rossini and Paderewski, he returned to Cuba. Here he not only composed his famous 40 danzas for piano, but also chamber music, zarzuelas, an opera and orchestral works. Sandra Mirabal arranged 27 of the danzas for clarinet and piano.On the included CD you findfrom each danza a complete version and one with only the piano accompagniment so you can “play-along”.
