From Ancient Times is a milestone in Jan Van der Roost's oeuvre, inspired above all by music from the Flemish vocal polyphony period. With Gregorian reminiscences and a medieval dance, however, even older music is used: The basis of this great work are truly "ancient times", but the tonal language is predominantly modern.
