Three Sketches for Brass Quintet was composed in 2007 and later revised in 2016. The piece consists of three contrasting movements, each with its own characteristic flavor. Each movement started out as a series short notebook sketches. As I began looking at material for a brass quintet, I realized that these sketches could be nicely expanded into a substantial composition. Although intended as a multimovement piece, if desired, the movements can also be performed individually.
