In 1976, the Italian singer Umberto Tozzi released his debut album and then, one year later, released the single Ti Amo to great critical acclaim. In 1979 Tozzi released his Gloria which was a great success on the continent before, in 1982 hitting a global market following an English version by the phenomenal young American vocalist, Laura Brannigan.
