The two trombone quartets published here are arrangements of vocal settings by Max Reger, Johannes Brahms and Richard Wagner of three poems: Nachtlied, Der Falke, An Weber's Grabe.

The three tenor trombone parts are scored in tenor clef, the highest part requiring a player of advanced proficiency due to the range required (C5).
