Angelo Savinelli (Verona or Gorizia, ca. 1800 – Florence, 17.05.1870) was a bassoonist, composer, and singing teacher… The bassoon becomes a character, and Savinelli's compositional intent emphasizes the poetics of bel canto, of the "cavata," and the pursuit of moderate virtuosity in both cadences and fast tempos. Cavatinas conceived in this way can be well received by both amateur audiences and musicians.
