Although Rossetti was well regarded during his own time, he was neglected in subsequent periods. These eighteen motets (originally published in 1573), offered here for the first time in modern edition, reveal Rossetti as a composer of particular sensitivity and imagination. The settings, with texts drawn chiefly from the Psalms, are mostly for five voices.
