The Polka Im Steinwald is named after the low mountain range of the same name in the Bavarian Upper Palatinate on the border with the former Egerland region. While the A section of the composition audibly depicts a joyful and lively hike through the Steinwald Nature Park, the trio section C musically visualises the vastness of the landscape at the highest point of the Steinwald, the Oberpfalzturm tower.
