Marco Pütz had the idea of writing a composition about Scottish folk songs for wind orchestra during a trip to Scotland. Shortly before his flight back he bought a flute school with unanimous folk songs from all parts of Scotland, which he then harmonized and adapted to his taste, added some passages and finally set the whole thing for concert band. The result is a suite for concert band that sounds pleasing and is pedagogically demanding.
