Christmas through the Ages

Written by a celebrated arranger and composer of popular classic Holy Moses, this lively and inspiring cantata is a pageant of Christmas past and present – including ‘An Elizabethan Christmas Present’, ‘Mysterious Handel’, ‘Mozart’s Mince Pies’, ‘A Victorian Cockney’s Lament’ and ‘Christmas Rapping’. Stuffed full of memorable tunes, it ends with a rumbustuous ‘Christmas Dinner’. Christmas Through the Ages, lasting approximately 20 minutes, was composed for Tring School, and its simple yet colourful accompaniment can be imaginatively adapted to a wide variety of electronic or acoustic resources. There are many possibilities for cross-curriculum work, with the chance to perform in period costume that will prove hard to resist!
