Dedicated to French bassist Edouard Nanny, this exquisite miniature is now available in both solo and orchestral tunings (published together) for the first time. The music is strongly independent and lyrical, in a mildly modernidiom, and makes an ideal recital work for the good intermediate bassist (c.Grade 8). The influence of Ravel and Debussy is obvious and this has much to commend it to any adventurous bassist looking for something a littledifferent. The piano accompaniment is strong yet supportive.
