Description
Anne Danican-Philidor belonged to a family which was highly respected in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Philidor is a surname that is said to have been granted to one of the oldest members of this family by Louis XIII or XIV, in memory of an Italian oboist by the name of Filidori.
