The second collaboration by America´s leading opera composer Thomas Pasatieri and dark-witted librettist Daphne Malfitano is "The Martyrs" a pair of monodramas that may be performed individually, or paired as a two-act opera with implicit ties between movements creating a single work. The opera is starkly scored for Baritone (or Bass-baritone) with Piano in Act I, and for Soprano with Piano in Act II.
