Arthur Ney was born at Potsdam, Germany in 1887. He settled in Switzerland in 1914 and became a Swiss citizen six years later. He conducted numerous wind bands and composed some ten fine marches, such as 'Marschbereit', 'Trompetenruf' and 'Vivat Lucerna', and three overtures for band. He died at Villars-sur-Ollan in 1963.
