The main focus of this book is the explanation of the physical processes that are responsible for the various tonal characteristics of the recorder. This is preceded by explanations of the historical development of the recorder as well as some basics that are important for technical understanding. A concluding chapter deals with the significance of the physical findings for research and practice.
