For the first time, these popular cello sonatas, which are also often played on the trombone or bassoon, are available as an Urtext edition. In the revised edition, the solo part has now been transcribed exclusively in bass clef, as the sonatas are also used in music schools. The editor examines the dubious source situation and investigates the doubts about Marcello's authorship. The edition is based on the Witvogel edition (1732).
