Cradle Song & Music Box Polka were commissioned by Graham and Jenny Pay as a gift for their daughter, harpist Camilla Pay, upon the birth of her second daughter, Claudia Poppy Knight, on November 17th 2018.

They are companion pieces to Lullaby and Music Box Waltz (GM155), which were similarly commissioned for the birth of Camilla's first daughter in 2014 – a musical sister for a sister in fact!
