Dolce Notte, composed in 1905, is a romance for piano with a delicate character and a very lyrical melody.

The density of the piano writing also suggests an orchestral thought, which is highlighted through this instrumentation for band. There are also some very expressive and singable solo passages: a solo by the horn in the central part and small interventions by the oboe, the bassoon and the bass clarinet.
