Julius Klengel was born in Leipzig, Germany, where he spent his entire career. Among other things, he was first concertmaster of the Gewandhaus Orchestra, professor at the conservatory and at the University of Leipzig and composed numerous works for cello, including two volumes of technical studies that remain in the repertoire to this day.
