Songs like "The Girl from Ipanema" or "Desafinado" have made the Brazilian pianist and composer Antonio Carlos Jobim world-famous and have become jazz standards that are mentioned in the same breath as titles by George Gershwin, Cole Porter and Irving Berlin. The best known interpretation of Desafinado - which means "weird sounding" - is certainly that of saxophonist Stan Getz.
