The composer Horst Jankowski was a classically trained German pianist, but became most successful for his easy listening music, and achieved international fame in 1965 with his famous pop piece A Walk in the Black Forest, known in his homeland asSchwarzwaldfahrt.

The popular and swinging instrumental tune was covered by many artists including Herb Alpert. This arrangement is close to Herb Alperts recording, with some extra harmonies and a different intro and ending.
