Leoš Janacek was regarded at his time only as a "simple" folklorist. In reality, Janacek has been very thorough in collecting and studying folk songs. The exploration of folk melody and language has become the basis of his own musical expression. He composed the orchestral suite "Lachian Dances" in the years 1889-1890.
