Description
The piece is dedicated to Vittorio Beniamino (1833-1912) from Turin, who at the time was the leading virtuoso of the instrument in his town, as indicated on the title page of the score: “Virtuoso of the Chamber and Chapel of H.M. the King of Italy and First Flute at the Royal Theatre of Turin.” From 1876 to 1895, he was the first flute teacher at the Liceo Musicale, establishing a veritable Turin flute school.
