Description
The Morceau de Salon was a chamber piece for solo instrument very popular in 19th-century France and could be either original or based on a known theme, as in the case of Hugues’s piece. “Délire,” which also has the alternative title “Canzona” for the Italian version “De’ miei giorni sull’aurora,” is a typical strophic mélodie (2/4, Larghetto, C minor and then major).
