„Im Jahre 1966 schrieb ich die Musik zu Volker Schlöndorffs erstem Film ‚Der junge Törless‘. Ich dachte mir, der Klang der alten, frühen Instrumente, die ich wählte, könnte als Metapher für das frühe Unausge-reifte, nahezu kindlich Jugendhafte und Gefährdete der Protagonisten der Musilschen Novelle verstanden werden.
