"Refraction" is a large-scale work for wind orchestra, inspired by the phenomenon of refraction. The music uses all the timbres of the wind orchestra and just as the light is refracted into different colours, the main theme is continually fragmented into small motifs, each of which brings a different group of instruments to the fore. Finally, all elements merge in a monumental climax of movement, sound and colour.
