This collection of twenty-four motets for five, six, and eight voices was prepared for the wedding of a North German nobleman. Texts for nineteen of the motets are drawn from the Song of Songs, and the others have a nuptial theme. Franck (ca. 1579–1639) was a prolific composer of biblical motets during the first half of the seventeenth century, and these works date from 1608.
