Ragtime Vol. I is a collection of unpublished musical pieces in the 'almost' ragtime style whose author is a young contemporary European composer who hides under the pseudonym Joseph Jay Sonner.

With his effervescent imagination, he has created not mere repetitions of a well-known theme (the one that made its appearance at the end of the 19th century in the United States, covering a wide time span with its greatest expansion in the first three decades of the 20th century), but rather a new musical excursus in this style that is now more than a century old.
