Neruda: Czech by birth, made significant contributions to Danish musical life, spent the majority of his adult life in Copenhagen; cellist with the court orchestra from 1864-1876, prominent figure in Copenhagen's chamber music scene. founder of the Society for Chamber Music (Kammermusikforeningen ) in 1868, performed in several prominent string quartets; also served as conductor for the concerts of the Danish Music Society from 1891-1915.
