March is a deft and witty concert march. A conductor should always strive to motivate his musicians and to stay one step ahead of his orchestra—this is the motto and idea behind this piece. First it takes the form of a drum solo which represents the constantly driving force of the conductor. Gradually the musicians fall into line and eventually a cheerful music-making ensemble emerges.
