Description

Benedetto Donelli (Bologna, March 26, 1782 – January 5, 1839) was an Italian pianist, composer, and teacher. Orphaned at an early age, he was admitted to the "pio stabilimento di San Bartolomeo" (Saint Bartholomew's Institute), where he studied music under the guidance of the harpsichord and organ master Petronio Giovagnoni. He later entered the Liceo musicale, where he was a fellow student of Rossini and studied counterpoint (Composition) from 1806 to 1812 with Father Stanislao Mattei.
