Der Stein der Weisen oder Die Zauberinsel (Vienna, 1790) is the heroic-comic opera that provided the model for Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Die Zauberflöte. Emanuel Schikaneder wrote the libretto based on the same collection of fairy tales. The music is attributed to five composers, all of whom were involved in Die Zauberflöte: Johann Baptist Henneberg, Benedikt Schack, Franz Xaver Gerl, Mozart, and Schikaneder.
