The suites, top-class works for the recorder and basso continuo, are on a par with Dieupart's well-known suites in terms of content and degree of difficulty. Michael Schneider and Winfried Michel are responsible for the edition, which makes an important work of baroque flute literature in the French style accessible again. Incidentally, two of the suites can also be played on a voice flute in D, thus enriching the rather sparse original literature for this type of recorder.
