This three-movement work describes the picturesque Vosges, a low mountain range in north-eastern France. The beauty of this region is expressed in slow sections, energetic parts, captivating musical depictions, calm fragments and lyrical descriptions. In the third movement, we hear a beautiful hymn that leads to a magnificent conclusion.
