A few years ago, the fanfare orchestra was declared an intangible cultural heritage in both the Netherlands and Flanders (Belgium). This living and dynamic form of heritage is passed on from generation to generation, although it changes over time. You could say that music - in this case the fanfare orchestra - is the link between the past, the present and the future. This beautiful thought served the composer as a source of inspiration for Living Heritage.
